Laws and Order

is doing a brand new type of trial! We are role-playing the "Pre-Trial Motions" phase. The Prosecutors will be trying to convince the judge to allow the evidence while the Defense team will be trying to convince the judge to NOT allow the evidence in a murder trial... All are welcome to come to watch or partake! Please see Mrs. Katz for details. The event will take place Saturday February 25th 10 am in room 206.

Two classes will be offered this summer (2017). Please see the information below and talk with your counselor if you have questions.
 
*Course options: Communication (technology credit) or Speech (LA credit)
*Cost: $200 (payment due 2/28 to be considered for the course)
*Time: 8:00am-11:30am
*Dates: First day of summer (TBD)-June 28th at the latest
*No transportation will be provided. Courses cannot be taken with summer drivers education.

Morton Trivia Night

If you liked playing “Trivia Crack”, then come put your skills to the test at the MORTON TRIVIA NIGHT hosted by the Senior Learn to Lead girls! The event is on Friday March 10th at 7 pm at the Morton Community United Church of Christ. PLUS, it includes a bake sale, raffles, and complimentary babysitting service! All proceeds go towards Morton Community Foundation.

Adult tables are $100 and student tables are $80 with a maximum of 8 people per table.

Information and applications for local scholarships will be available in the counseling office and in the counseling office's google classroom on Friday, February 24, 2017. There are opportunities for graduating MHS seniors as well as past graduates (see specific scholarship criteria for eligibility). The deadline for submitting completed applications is Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 3:00 pm. No late applications will be accepted. Scholarship winners will be recognized at Morton High School Honors Night on May 1, 2017. Please see Mrs. Brown with any questions.

Spring Musical

The 2017 MHS spring musical will be: Plain and Fancy

Plain and Fancy is an amazing comedy about 2 sophisticated New Yorkers who find themselves living among the Amish in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania.
They become embroiled in the conflict between Papa Yoder, whose daughter Katie is set to marry Ezra, and Ezra's brother Peter, who returns to the community to claim Katie as his wife.

Show dates:  March 30 - April 2.

Free SAT Prep Through Khan Academy

Look no further for FREE test prep for the SAT sanctioned and approved by the CollegeBoard (maker of the SAT)! Khan Academy is the answer. Go to https://www.khanacademy.org/sat and click Start Practicing. Follow the directions to link your College Board Account (PSAT, AP, etc.) OR take the diagnostic quizzes to get personalized help.

Remember: the SAT is being given at MHS to all juniors on Wednesday, April 5th. The aptitude test is a graduation requirement and a free college entrance exam for you. Take time to prepare and show us your best!

Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in a career in healthcare.  The hotline (309-999-4275) will soon open for ICC's Summer CNA program.  

 

The summer program starts June 5 and runs 8 weeks. Classes are 4 days/wk, 6 hrs/day. Students will be taking 7.5 credit hours including HLTH 112 (CNA), HLTH 116 (Alzheimer’s), HLTH 041 (CPR), and ICC 104 (Health Careers Exploration). 

 

Students will exit this program with eligibility to sit for the Nursing Assistant State Exam, CPR Certification, and 7.5 college credits.

 

To participate, students should call the hotline number and provide contact information. The hotline (309-999-4275)  opens on March 1 at 8amStudents who call the hotline to get their names in are invited to a registration meeting.  Students may be scheduled for an interview. Selection for this program is based on availability.
