Spring Sports →Girls Track

Coach Lynn Rudin

Lynn Rudin is entering her 33rd year as Morton High Schools track coach. In her 33 years she has coached 10 conference championship teams. She has coached numerous state qualifiers / placers and one state champion. Coach Rudin also teaches physical education at the high school




Coach Leslie Gray

Leslie (Koch) Gray has been the assistant track coach at MHS for 28 years. She was a 1984 Morton graduate and still holds the 100 low hurdles, shot put and discus school records. Coach Gray also teaches special education at the Morton Junior High School




Coach Jeff Stephens

Jeff Stephens has coached high jump at MHS since 2009 and has had jumpers qualify for state in the last 3 out of 4 years.  He is also involved with the development of 4th through 8th grade high jumpers.  He has coached ten Lutheran Sports Association State Track Meet high jump qualifiers, with several top finishers and one state championship jumper. Jeff has always had a passion for track and field. He continues his enthusiasm and support for high jumping by encouraging young athletes to try their best and to have fun while trying.

TSSAA Regional XC Coach of the Year- 2011

Coached two 4x800 and one 4x400 State Champion Relays (TN & IL)

Athlete Highlights: 

Walk-on qualifier, Illinois State University Track
IHSA Big 12 Champion: 1600m, 3200m relay

Señor Mahannah is in his 11th year of teaching Spanish. He also sponsors the Interact & Spanish clubs.


2017 Girls Track

2016 Girls Track

The Lady Potters finished 3rd in the Mid Illini Conference. Meredith McDonough, Savina Fischer, Alexa Crowe and Madi Glatz competed in the 1600 relay at the State Track Meet. Savina Fischer was named Mid Illini All Conference Selection.
A school record was set in the 3200 relay with a time of 10:03.0 The relay consisted of Aspen Gordon, Sophia Lange, Meagan Moreno and Meredith McDonough.
MHS was represented in 9 events at the Peoria Journal Star Honor Roll Meet.
