Kristen Friedrich -Varsity Coach

Coach K became part of the coaching staff for the Lady Potters volleyball program in 2014. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Bradley University in 2011. She also works at Morton High School in the Special Education Department as an IA and will be entering her fourth year with the Morton School District this coming school year (‘17-’18).

Coach has been playing volleyball around 20 years. In high school she received the Mary Beth Peplow Award honoring one female and one male top athlete in the high school for their athletic and academic excellence. She then went on to play collegiate volleyball at Illinois College where she started varsity as a college freshman.

In 2015, as sophomore coach, the sophomore volleyball team successfully competed in every championship match in all 3 tournaments. The sophomore team earned 1st place in the Metamora conference tournament, 2nd place in the Cyclone Classic and 2nd place in the Dunlap Invite. Coach K moved to varsity this past season (2016). The Lady Potters finished their season strong and went on for an even more successful post season. The varsity volleyball team earned the title of Regional Champions, won their first round of Sectionals and played in the Sectional Championship earning a spot on IHSA’s Super Sixteen 3A volleyball teams in the state of Illinois.

Coach K strives to teach commitment, loyalty and integrity while building a successful volleyball program. “My first priority is to have a program that promotes and teaches athletes to be kind, respectful people with great integrity. My hope is that everyday they will learn things like dedication, time management, responsibility, along with respect for yourself and others. On top of that, I get to teach and grow them in a sport I absolutely love and am extremely passionate about! Then, together, we work and push each other every day to be the best we all can be.”

Jordan Williams - Freshman & Sophomore Coach

Coach Williams became part of the Potter volleyball program in 2016.  He earned a bachelor's degree in 2009 from Illinois State University in elementary education and a master's degree in educational administration in 2012 from St. Xavier University.  He is currently teaching 8th grade science at Morton Junior High.  Prior to working in District 709, Coach Williams taught science and coached volleyball at Broadmoor junior high in Pekin for 7 years.

Coach Williams played club volleyball through Illinois State University during his college years, which is where he grew the passion to coach the sport.  In his 6 years as head coach at Broadmoor, his teams won 6 regional titles and made 1 state appearance.  Coach Williams is now heading the junior high program in Morton. He has also coached 1 year of club volleyball.

Mr. Williams believes that hard work on and off the court can always prevail over talent that isn't working hard.
